A little stash and some pictures

No stitching pictures to show except for a little stash photo. These are Vikki Clayton HDF silk threads in a variety of shades lying on a bed of Gander linen.

I was sitting out in the garden earlier this week and noticed this unusual cloud formation so out came the camera and I took a few shots.

And then I took a picture of one of the flower pots on the wall of the house. I think the yellow and blue look really pretty together.

And last but not least, here is Tommy dining out on tomatoes and lettuce!

I have not yet made a start on Jane Rees as I still need to cut and overlock (serge) the linen. My friend Caroline from Stitch-n-Bitch brought herself a new overlocker and kindly gave me her old one complete with instructions and a list of swear words! I managed to get it threaded up, I hope correctly, and will be cutting my linen to size and trying it out shortly. I have also been stitching up the new pink design but I stitched one row of letters one row down too far so out these had to come and I will be putting these stitches back in right place later.

Not much else to report so ...

Thanks for visiting, have a lovely weekend and
Take care

Sew Easy and Sew Parisian

Martine from Broderies Passion sent me pictures of a beautiful needlecase that she stitched using the Sew Easy free chart on white linen with DMC threads. There are more pictures on her blog so please make a visit and see her other wonderful stitching and finishing! Thank you Martine for sharing.

Also Christine from Les Petites Croix de Symiote sent me a picture of her framed Sew Parisian stitched with Threadworx threads on Belfast linen. Christine made this her own by adding a French song title about Paris by Jacques Dutronc. Translated into English the song title is 'It's five o'clock, Paris awakens'! Isn't this a lovely version of Sew Parisian? Thank you Christine for sharing.

Both Sew Parisian and Sew Easy (free chart) are available *here* or by clicking on the CHARTS button on the sidebar.

If you would like to share any of your stitched iStitch designs here on my blog, please email me with a picture and details of fabric and threads used and I would be more than happy to post them with a link back to your blog. My email address can be found on my profile.

By request, I have added a 'Followers' link both to this blog and my charts blog so, if you want to be a follower, you are more than welcome. At some point I will be having a giveaway for followers only so don't miss out - sign up now!

Over the weekend I stitched an ornament for Christmas and once this is 'finished' I will post a picture. I also finished charting and printing off a new design ready for stitching - it's pretty and it's pink!

Thanks for visiting
Take care

Nancy's Sew Nautical

Nancy of Lovely in Chocolate has been stitching Sew Nautical as a Sunday SAL with Margaret and has said that I can post a picture of her beautiful finished sampler here - thank you Nancy. There are more pictures on her blog so go take a look at these and the rest of her amazing work too. It is stitched on antique white linen with HDF silk threads from her stash. I hope Margaret will share her Sew Nautical too!

Sew Nautical is still available *here* or by clicking on the CHARTS button on the sidebar.

My linen has now arrived from Tissage Gander so I need to get this cut to size, overlocked (serged) and onto a frame for my start on Jane Rees. I will post a WIP picture as soon as there is WIP!

After being extremely good with my 'Stitch from Stash' regime and not buying anything for nearly 6 months, I now find that, having 'fallen off the wagon', I am making up for lost time. Not only Gander linen and Soie Surfine thread for Jane, I have found myself surfing round Vikki's site *here* and ordering quantities of HDF silks which is perfect for stitching 1*2 on 48ct Gander linen. I have also brought new 'feet' for my floor stand and a small portable lamp/magnifier for travelling and Stitch-n-Bitch meetings!

Something borrowed, something blue?

Click on the picture for a closeup view

Before I get too much stitched of the latest iStitch design I though I would give out a sneak peek! The linen is 48ct blanc cassé Gander linen and the thread is HDF Magpie Tears 2349 left over from my Emblem of Love RR. Although I like all shades of blue this is one of my favourites and reminds me of washed out Levi's.

I have had to turn on the comments moderator as I was being left spam (in Chinese). What was actually written was ok but following each of the comments was a dotted line which in turn linked to a porn site!

Still no sign of my 55ct linen from Tissage Gander but my dear friend Valie called them on Thursday to be told it would be despatched today. She also doubled up my order at my request so I will have plenty in my stash for future use. And in the meantime, after deciding to stitch Jane Rees, I ordered Gigi's Jeanne Ries chart so I now have to decide which one of these to stitch. Why do I do this to myself?

It's another hot and sunny day here today and if it continues until the end of Summer I will be one happy lady.

Something blue

Click on picture for a close-up view

Not long ago the Emblem of Love RR came to a finish and here is my sampler which has returned home. It is stitched on 1*2 white 36ct antique white linen with HDF Magpie Tears 2349. Thank you to all of you who made such a wonderful job of your sections and a big thank you to Edgar for moderating. Now I need to find a suitable frame.

Enclosed with my RR was this lovely crochet pot holder from Suzanne who was the last to stitch on my RR. It's far too pretty to use as a pot holder and is being used as a mat under my pencil pot on my desk. Thank you Suzanne.

Last night I finished this tiny ABC sampler - I have no idea what it's called or whose design it is - maybe someone knows? It is stitched 1*2 on blanc cassé 55ct Gander linen with Soie Surfine 109. I am thinking of finishing this either as a pinkeep or a needlebook.

Still no sign of my Gander linen from Tissage Gander - I am really itching to start Jane Rees now. In the meantime I will stitch up the model for my latest iStitch Sew Design.

The weather continues to be bright and sunny and I am spending a lot of time in the garden.

Sew Sweet, crochet and the garden!

This is Valie's version of Sew Sweet stitched in pretty shades from the AVAS Soie 1003 range. Very beautiful Valie and thank you for allowing me to share this here.

Sew Sweet is still available *here* or by clicking on the CHARTS button on the sidebar.

Last night was our Stitch-n-Bitch group meeting. Sue brought along her crocheting and I asked her if I could have a go and, although I have not crocheted for many years, it came back to me and here is the African Flower Hexagon I made. It seems a little large for my liking, so I will have another go using perle cotton and a smaller hook - everyone knows how much I like miniature!

We planted up a few pots for the garden last weekend and here are a few, aren't they pretty?

A big thank you to those that left comments on my last post and, now that I know people are reading, if not commenting on my blog, I will continue to post! A few questions arose: Staci and Valerie both asked what I do with my practice pieces - I am planning on attaching these and my iStitch models to a separate piece of linen and putting them in one large frame. DonnaTN asked if I use magnification when stitching on high count fabrics - as long as I have good light and my prescription glasses I can see fine to stitch on 48ct but I do use a magnifier (attached to my Ottlite) for 55ct. My eyesight has actually improved slightly since working on these high counts so maybe it's a case of 'use it or lose it'! Christy - I purchase Soie Surfine from Atelier196 in France - they have a good selection and give good service. I will be continuing with my designing and Sew Patchwork II will be released over this coming weekend.

I am still awaiting my Gander linen to arrive from Tissage Gander - I hope it's not too much longer now as I really would like to make a start on Jane Rees.

This evening we are going for dinner with our daughter Nicola and her family and she called me to say bring my swim suit as the hot tub has been fixed so you can guess where I will be later.

Thank you for visting
Take care
