iStitch Designs

In the past few weeks I have been sent pictures of finished iStitch designs. First up ....






... is Sew Spooky as stitched and finished by Michele of X Marks My Spot. Stitched on 28ct taupe linen with CC, WDW and DMC threads, Michele finished this as a wonderful pillow with an amazing backing fabric that compliments this design perfectly. There is a picture on Michele's blog so pop over and have a look.






Next up is Sew Nautical stitched and finished by Suzanne of Berkshire Cottage. Suzanne used a silk thread on a fabulous shade of blue linen and finished it as a 'heavy-weight'. Pretty finish - I love the tassels trim!





Lastly, but by no means the least, Lucy of Made By Me has taken sections of Sew Noel to produce some very pretty ornaments and there are more pictures on her blog showing the co-ordinating backing fabric.

Sew Nautical 1*1




Jennifer over at Sweet Pea Stitches recently stitched Sew Nautical for an F&S exchange. Stitching 1*1 on 32ct antique white linen she used a variety of overdyes, mostly Crescent Colours. She also stitched a second square using one of the motifs - I wonder if you can guess which one? If you visit her blog you will see. I love that Jennifer gave the mermaid red hair just like hers!

Dawn asked me for more information about Soie Surfine (109) so I took the above picture so you can see how it differs from Vikki Clayton's HDF Perfect Red 6215 and DMC 815. It's a lot finer than the other two and is ideal for stitching over one or on high count linens. I used two strands for Alphabets à... which I stitched on 48ct Gander linen but I am using a single strand on 55ct Gander linen for Jane.


I was hoping to release iStitch Sew Pretty in Pink today but it's much too gloomy here to take a photo. As hard as I try my pictures are never very good at the best of times but it's still early and it may brighten up later and if it does I will attempt a photo shoot. If it doesn't I think stitching will be the order of the day!

Nancy's Sew Nautical





Nancy of Lovely in Chocolate has been stitching Sew Nautical as a Sunday SAL with Margaret and has said that I can post a picture of her beautiful finished sampler here - thank you Nancy. There are more pictures on her blog so go take a look at these and the rest of her amazing work too. It is stitched on antique white linen with HDF silk threads from her stash. I hope Margaret will share her Sew Nautical too!

My linen has now arrived from Tissage Gander so I need to get this cut to size, overlocked (serged) and onto a frame for my start on Jane Rees. I will post a WIP picture as soon as there is WIP!

After being extremely good with my 'Stitch from Stash' regime and not buying anything for nearly 6 months, I now find that, having 'fallen off the wagon', I am making up for lost time. Not only Gander linen and Soie Surfine thread for Jane, I have found myself surfing round Vikki's site *here* and ordering quantities of HDF silks which is perfect for stitching 1*2 on 48ct Gander linen. I have also brought new 'feet' for my floor stand and a small portable lamp/magnifier for travelling and Stitch-n-Bitch meetings!

White sands and tropical breezes ...





My French friend had a longing for the seaside and therefore chose to stitch Sew Nautical in beautiful muted shades of soft blues, pastel greens and more to make Sew Nautical come alive in colour. Valie has listed on her blog the threads she used for you to copy if you wish. This truly is a very beautiful version of Sew Nautical and thank you Valie for allowing me to post your picture.

As I thought yesterday, the dentist removed the offending tooth that was causing me pain and I am so glad that it's gone. The gap is at the back and we will decide what the next step is at my subsequent appointment.

No stitching yesterday or today as yet. I had hoped that the black Soie Surfine thread I have ordered would arrive from Paris this morning but no sign of it. However, an Emblem of Love RR did arrive so I will start my section later today. Margaret chose skeins of Threadworx in a really vibrant shade of red and we all know how much I love stitching with red, so I just know I will enjoy stitching on this one before it finally makes its way home to its owner.

A Sew Nautical gift!





Caroline (no blog) from my Stitch-n-Bitch group was looking for a chart to stitch for her seafaring friends and chose her own version of Sew Nautical! It's stitched on 32 ct antique white Jobelan with Caron Soie Crystale #7001 (blue) and Caron Waterlilies 'Monsoon' (bluey green) together with Kreinek Soie d'Alger #544G (gold) and Rainbow Gallery Splendor #S820 (red). She very cleverly chose a mount (mat) and frame which echoes the two main colours and has scattered a few shells for privacy. A lovely version Caroline and thank you for allowing me to share it.

Sew Nautical


Sew Nautical - stitched on 55ct white linen with AVAS Soie Surfine 2652 (blue), 2065 (teal), 2499 (red) and 679 (gold). DMC equivalents are listed on the chart. You can see by the scissors how tiny this one is but the stitch count is 91 x 78 and you have no need to stitch it on 55ct unless, of course, you want to! There are fishes, a crab, a mermaid and other sea creatures together with a golden sun - what more could a seafarer ask for?
