Sew Advent 2016 - Picture Gallery

How wonderful to see the completed Sew Advents for 2016. I know that it didn't look much in the early days but I think the overall result was worth that daily stitch!

Scroll through the following pictures to see some lovely finishes

Brenda chose to stitch 1*1 on 32ct raw Belfast linen with the recommended NPI silk threads

Claudia (ever the rebel 😉) chose to 1*1 on 28ct Lakeside Exemplar with HDF Redwork Red. She had to adjust the church steeple so it didn't blend in with the tree - well done Claudia

Cornelia stitched 1*1 on 32ct Belfast linen in Amsterdam Blue with NPI silk threads

Dede tells me her fabric is from Picture this Plus but is now not available. Apparently it was a test piece and they decide against reproducing it - such a shame - the background looks like falling snow! She used DMC white plus threads from Victorian Motto Sampler

Judy (another rebel maybe? 😉) also went with all red thread albeit a variegated (DMC 115). Her fabric is Zweigart 32ct dirty linen. Judy shortened the steeple to avoid it blending into the tree

Mariko stitched 1*1 on 32ct Belfast in Spruce Blue using DMC threads and finished as a very pretty ornament

Mary stitched 1*1 on Wichelt 28ct in Nordic Blue using DMC threads B5200, 898, 444, 702 and 321

Melissa chose 40ct silk weave in Sapphire Sky with Mo's silk thread in red and green plus DMC threads

Melody stitched on 32ct Summer Breeze Hand Dyed Linen by Stephanie with silk threads

Last but certainly not least, Penny stitched not one but two versions! Her fabric was Smokey Pearl Cashel - her threads DMC. She hem-stitched both versions to finish.

What can I say? Each and every one of these Sew Advents are so beautiful that it would be very difficult to pick one out - so well done and thank you to the above ladies for allowing me to share their finishes on here.

Thank you too to all that took part in the SAL. If you have stitched and finished Sew Advent 2016 and would like to share your work, please send me a picture and details of fabric and threads used and I will post in another gallery.

Thanks for visiting - Happy New Year to you all
Take care
Carol

Sew Advent 2016 - Day 16

iStitch Designs - Sew Advent 2016 - here we are at Day 16 where we find a snowy village being built! I have yet to add snow on the two trees and a teeny red bead for Rudolph's nose. I have decided on a hemstitch finish. Please visit iStitch Designs Facebook page (link on sidebar) where you will see other versions. Claudia and Judy have gone with red monochrome whilst others are following the colour threads as suggested although some are stitching on a raw linen rather than the blue. It's difficult to choose which one is my favourite - which do you like best?

As something a little different for the children this year I brought some wood tags, painted them with white acrylic paint edging them with a black Sharpie. Using rubbers stamps I printed mistletoe on those for the girls and stars for the boys. On the reverse I stamped Merry Christmas and wrote names and the year again with a fine tip permanent marker. I hand-twisted black No 12 perle cotton for the hangers and then added tiny black ribbon bows (one for each side). I was rather pleased with the result.  I have two stitched ones which have yet to be finished and will post these when they are done.

Thanks for visiting
