Jane Rees

After months of decisions and awaiting deliveries, I am now ready to start Jane Rees. I have the pattern; I have the linen (55ct blanc cassé Gander); I have the thread (Soie Surfine 109); I have needles (Bohin 28's) and my beautiful Nogent scissors.

The longer bars for my Millenium frame arrived this morning from Needle Needs - fast service thank you John!

The linen is overlocked (serged) and fitted to the frame and lays upon my Needle Necessities floor stand. The light and magnifier are clipped on the stand. So ... I am ready to start. Come back tomorrow to see WIP!

Thanks for visiting
Take care

A Red-Letter Day, to be sure (forgive the pun! :P)

I've been considering a Needlework System4 lately--any thoughts on that one verses your set up?

Ahhh, that lovely anticipation of a new start! The unused thread, the wide expanse of untouched linen, the thrill of a brand-new, crisp chart and all your tools laid out and ready. Have fun, Carol!

Very glad to see you've finally made a start on Jane Rees Carol. I hope you enjoy stitching it. Can you tell us more about the Soie Surfine? It looks like a bobbin of normal sewing thread you'd use for ordinary sewing, or machine stitching (trouser hems, etc!!). Is it finer than Vikki's SSR? (Or DMC embroidery floss)? What's it like for stitching with? I might give that a try on a future Bristol Sampler.
