A walk on the pier!

Valie arrived in England for her short visit and we picked her up from the Eurostar station in Ashford late yesterday afternoon. The weather has been atrocious all day but the rain stopped as her train arrived - I think she brought some good weather with her as today has been really beautiful. We took a walk around the town centre to see if she recognised anything from the time she spent here during her teenage years and she did recognise the area around the pier - not too much has changed in our town. We brought some ice-creams and took a walk on the pier where I took a few photos (click on the collage for a closeup view). We have booked a table in a quaint little pub in Sandwich for dinner tonight. I know the food is great there so, hopefully, she will enjoy it. All too soon her trip has come to an end for tomorrow she leaves for London.

Thanks for visiting
Take care

    Carol, hi
I'm so glad the weather brightened up for Valie's visit. I love the seaside in winter, there is so much atmosphere. I was at college in Weymouth for 3 years and the winter season was my favourite. Your photos are fabulous. Valie must have felt all those lovely memories come drifting back.

What a shame your time together was so short but I'm sure you managed to pack a lot in.
Have a lovely meal tonight and tell us all about it soon :>)
    Hugs Angela

Wow, so beautiful! Glad you are having a great time together; hope you enjoy your dinner! Lately, I have been positively obsessed with a local pubish restaurant.

Your town is so adorable. It looks like a typical English seaside town and it reminds me of a town in a movie. Not quite sure which one....maybe the hilarious one Calendar Girls or the one about the widow who grows marijuana in her greenhouse. Anyway, enjoy your visit with your friend and glad you have bit of a break in the weather.
